Moves Like… Jake

What do saxophones, spoons and Scouts all have in common?! Jake Goodall!

Jake is an avid theatre practitioner, musician, Artistic Director of Javeenbah Theatre and all-round go-getter who adores working with community.

Currently completing his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Digital Media at Southern Cross University, Jake is joining the Everybody NOW! team as an Associate Producer supported by the City of Gold Coast’s  Professional Placement Program.

Jake will spend the next couple of months getting to know Everybody NOW! and learning the ropes behind the scenes which we hope can support his own exciting artistic journey ahead.

But first let’s get to know Jake and find out more about why he loves making art accessible for all!

Question 1

What are three things about you that we won’t find in your bio?

  1. I am heavily involved with Scouts Queensland and have been for the past 13 years, I’m currently the Brisbane Gang Show Operations Director and the Your Entertainment Assistant Manager (Mini Arena) for the upcoming Australian Jamboree (*That’s a big deal in Scout world!)
  2. I play many different instruments: Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano and Cello
  3. I am a coffee fiend! I can’t start my day without a coffee (my order is usually an Iced Caramel Latte)
Question 2

What is your secret talent?

I can balance a spoon on my nose almost instantly without any preparation.

Question 3

Who are your art crushes? (an official Everybody NOW! term for people / artists / collaborators whom you love working with or love their work)

I am a bit biased, but I love Javeenbah Theatre, a local community theatre in Nerang. All the volunteers at the theatre are the most friendly people you will ever meet and the theatre its self is constantly pushing the boundaries on what community theatre looks like in their programming, accessibility and inclusion.

Question 4

What are you most excited about in joining Everybody NOW?

I am super excited to be joining Everybody NOW as the team are extremely knowledgeable about their craft and I’m thrilled to be able to learn new skills from some of the best people in the industry.

Question 5

The purpose of our organisation is To Move Communities – that movement can manifest in many ways; physically, socially, emotionally, and culturally. To be moved and to move together. What moves you?

The ability to include every single person in art regardless of their accessibility needs. As the new generation of artists are upcoming, it is integral that the need for art accessibility is instilled in them, and Everybody NOW is one of those companies proving that art can truly be for anyone!
