ROLLER NIGHTS
Don your roller skates, blades or scoot shoes and wheel your way to the HOTA forecourt for a fun social skate night under the summer skies, complete with DJ, pop-up bar, and tasty treats.
We have curated a stella local celebration of skate, hosted by the hilarious, roller-skating, lycra loving cabaret and comedy performer Rebel Lyons.
There will be workshops in roller dance by Dion from Roll Fam, skills and tricks with Fiona and her team from Fun Daze and special guest appearances by the Gold Coast Roller Sports skaters and Gold Coast Roll Out.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, our hosts will guide you through a wheelie-good-time!

4.30PM – 5:00PM WORKSHOP
Beginners Skate Workshop with Fun Daze
The experienced coaches from local roller skating school Fun Daze will take you through some basic techniques to get you rolling safely, with confidence and style. You’ll learn various stopping techniques, how to navigate the outdoor terrain, how to turn left & right and backwards and forwards transitions plus more! Skate training frames for first timers will be available.
5:00PM – 5.30PM PERFORMANCE
Artistic Skate Demo and coaching with Gold Coast Roller Sports
Gold Coast Roller Sports are an artistic roller skating club for all skaters from beginners through to competitive levels, including National, International and World class standards. Check out their advanced skaters do some flashie demonstrations to see what Artistic Skating is all about. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to ask questions and get some personal coaching from the skaters.
5.30PM – 6:00PM WORKSHOP
Roller Dance with Dion from Roll Fam
Dancing on Roller Skates?! You better believe it. It’s time to get those wheels grooving with Dion from Roll Fam! Try with the wheels, or even without!

Derby Demo
East Coast Derby Dolls is an inclusive, fun, friendly Gold Coast-based roller derby league that welcomes members from linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with diverse abilities, LGBTQI+ community and people of all gender identities, aged 16 years and up. Brace yourselves for this fierce demo of contact sport on skates.
6.30PM – 7:00PM WORKSHOP
Tricks (and Tips) Workshop with Fun Daze
Step your skills and learn some street tricks, with Fun Daze including advance stopping, street tricks, jumps, 180’s, mini rail, mini ramps and spine. Along with some fun cruiser styles like backyards skating, side surfing, the snake step, the cannon ball and shoot the duck.

Finale Skate Jam/ Comp
Cheer on our skate instructions, demo performers and wildcard entrants as they go head-to-head for an all in celebration of skate, battling it out with their skills, attitude and skating style to claim the Roller Nights lucky door prize.
