Threads of Belonging

A free intergenerational, and intercultural textiles project.

Threads of Belonging is a vibrant textile project that celebrates the stories of women and girls from the Northern Gold Coast.

We invite you to participate in a 12-week creative journey, led by local textile artists Tal Fitzpatrick and Melissa Spratt!

Through free fortnightly workshops, you’ll explore quilting, stitching, finger-knitting, and crafting to create a beautiful blanket or banner that represents the heart of belonging.

Everyone is welcome, whether you join us for all six workshops or just an individual session.

Participants will have the opportunity to create their own piece or contribute to a large-scale, collaborative artwork that will be that will be exhibited on completion of the project.

This initiative focuses on fostering meaningful connections in the community while promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through creative collaboration.

No experience, materials, or equipment are needed – just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

If you have crafting or sewing skills, we’d love for you to share them with others, to help make this a fun and supportive space for all.

Closing Event – Slow Down, Stitch up! Treat yourself to a free morning of creativity, connection and craft Saturday 17 May from 10:00am-1:00pm. Slow Down, Stitch Up! is your invitation to unplug, make by hand, and embrace the joy of slow living: Click here to register now!
